About the Author:
Heather Smith Thomas has raised and trained horses for 45 years and has published more than 6,000 stories and articles in horse and livestock publications. Thomas writes regularly for more than 40 horse publications, including Chronicle of the Horse, Equus, The Horse: Your Guide to Equine Health Care, and Quarter Horse Journal. She has published 13 books, most recently Storey's Guide to Training Horses. Thomas and her husband raise beef cattle and horses on a ranch in the mountains of eastern Idaho.
