About the Author:
Heather Smith Thomas started shoeing the family ranch horses in 1958 when she was fourteen, after watching her dad do the shoeing. During the past forty-seven years, she has shod all her ranch horses and has been intensely interested in the health and care of their feet as the soundness of these horses has been vital to her ranching operation in the rugged mountains of Idaho. She and her husband Lynn have been raising beef cattle and horses since 1966.
