About the author:

Edward L. Bowen is a distinguished Turf authority, historian, and writer. He is a prolific author of many Eclipse Press titles, including Matriarchs: Great Mares of the 20th Century. Formerly the editor-in-chief of The Blood-Horse, Bowen is president of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, which raises funds for equine research.
